Visual Sequential Memory
Visual Sequential Memory is the ability to remember and recall a sequence of visual images such as letters, shapes, numbers, symbols or objects in the correct order.
In the “4 Object Missing Sequence” worksheets, the student must form a mental image of each object in the sequence on the first page, in order to recall them in the correct order when the sequence is no longer visible. In so doing, the student will be able to identify which object is missing on the second page.
Visual Discrimination
Visual Discrimination is the ability to identify differences and similarities between shapes, symbols, objects or patterns, by analyzing their individual characteristics and distinctive features.
In the “4 Object Missing Sequence” worksheets, the student needs to distinguish between any similar looking objects amongst the four possible answers, in order to identify which object is exactly the same as the one that they recall is missing.
Figure Ground
Figure Ground perception is the ability to screen out any irrelevant visual material when presented with a lot of visual information at one time (not confusing the background or any surrounding images with the important stimulus). This skill is key for good attention and concentration.
In order to complete the “4 Object Missing Sequence” worksheets successfully, the student must attend to each object in the sequence in turn, within the busy field of all the other surrounding objects on the page.
