The workbook focuses on developing phonological awareness, letter-sound knowledge and vocabulary, using in context learning activities. The activities are based on the multiple cues theory of reading. The emphasis is on developing a system of reading strategies that uses multiple cues, visual, graphonic, semantic and syntactic.
Students have to read a simple sentence, find the missing noun or verb that fits the sentence, circle, highlight, join and/or write the word to finish the sentence.
To fulfil the task the student has to understand the meaning of the word and of the sentence. The words are accompanied by meaningful pictures.
The activities are useful for young children and ESL students
The program has become a useful aid to teach grammar; that sentences consist of nouns and verbs. This workbook is compatible with the self checking LUK system, it uses the miniLUK box with 12 tiles. However, students can use the workbook program without the help of the LUK box. See more about LUK at LUKselfChecking_Programs.
