Brief Statement & Additional Information:
I am a South African born teacher, with over fourteen years teaching experience obtained in South Africa, the UK and Australia, as well as field experience in New Zealand.
In my more than fourteen years of being a teacher, I gained a great deal of experience working with students from Kindergarten to Year 11 with diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
This experience helped me develop a deep knowledge, understanding and sensitivity to the needs of all students including autism, ADD, ADHD, Down syndrome and Asperger Syndrome.
I taught in double and parallel medium classes, remedial schools and also worked in the Intensive English Language Centre at a Reggio Emilia School. I successfully managed classrooms of over thirty students as well as students with behaviour challenges within mainstream, inclusive classrooms.
I have a particular interest in assisting students with special needs, helping them experience success, which normally starts with reading, hence my reason for writing education books.
For the past two years I have focused primarily on writing educational children's books and creating teaching resources - aligned to Common Core State Standards and the Australian Curriculum - available on various website.
My aim is to provide students, teachers and parents with stories and educational books, taking into consideration the concepts applicable for the specific reading level, at the same time trying to make it as interesting as possible.
