This open ended activity is ideal for Grades 1 and 2 and and can be tailored to suit all levels of your grade.
I have used this in Australian Grade 2 classes.
Students use the coins attached to create caterpillars of different values then write the value on the speech bubble.
Teachers can either leave it open-ended for students to decide their own values for each caterpillar or the teacher
Can set the values and students use whichever coins they like to create that value.
Great for lessons on teaching counting coins of the same denomination or coins of different values.
