This is an inference activity with some dot points which guides the students' thinking. It includes an image which is the visual aid to allow the students to make an inference. It uses the equation for making an inference: text clues + background knowledge = inference. This resource is excellent in introducing the students to this skill as it allows them to practise the skill through visual aids first before moving on to using written texts. It is suitable for Year 2 - 6. Students in the higher grades would be able to provide more detail and the task could be extended if the teacher would like. The activity could be completed in pairs, groups or independently. It could also be the basis of a Think-Pair-Four-Share strategy. For BYODD schools, this is great also. You could upload the activity into their google drive folder where they can access it and complete their responses in the form of a mindmap on an app or even just in their books by writing full sentences.
