200 Most Commonly Used Words

This is a simple 60 page resource that you can use in your classroom as a word wall to support students writing. They are the 200 most commonly used words from the C2C literacy framework, as of 2012, along with others that I have added. So you are getting more than 200 words and you can also easily add your own. The words are also in Queensland beginners font.

When I used this in my year one classroom I simply printed off all the words, cut then out individually and then laminated them to keep them protected, I then placed them all over a door in my classroom, you could put them anywhere: a wall, a door, a board, windows etc. This word wall was used on a daily basis from my students to support their writing. Also because they were seeing the words on a daily basis and spelling them correctly they were learning the words faster as sight words and learning to spell them faster.

This is a great resource that can be used in most primary classrooms. The words in this list are probably more suited to years 1 – 4. However, with older children would also benefit from their constant presence in the classroom and you could easily add harder words.
