Can your students master four figure grid references to help Santa get ready for his busiest night of the year?
This powerpoint and worksheet lesson explain how to work out four figure grid reference coordinates on a map. There are fully animated slides illustrating how to find out grid references and then test the class on their understanding.
Using their understanding of grid referencing the students have to create their own map of Santa's North Pole home. They have to include certain things but can be as imaginative as they like. I have got some excellent holiday displays from my classes with this lesson! Once their maps are finished each student tests a friend to 'find' particular items by giving the correct four figure grid reference.
Contains: Fully animated PowerPoint 2 worksheets
NO PREP CUTTING AND LAMINATING! Just print out the provided worksheets and go! I have also now included simplified versions of the animated slides so that you can print those off for use by your class instead of just having to lead from the from on the white board.
The lesson can be done in one hour but in my experience works well over two hours (maybe two sessions) to get the maximum detail and the understanding.
I hope your classes find this as informative and fun as my classes have.
Thanks you for looking!
