You will need the recording of Spinning Wheel by Blood Sweat and Tears to complete these activities with your students. This is a series of four activities using the musical material from Spinning Wheel. There is a comprehension activity followed by a listening activity. The listening activity questions the instrumentation, structure, role of each layer, the chord progression and has a melodic dictation. The students consolidate the chordal information by writing the chords from the verse and the bridge. They are asked to write a counter melody that can be played over either set of the chords.
