Inference task cards allow students to combine their prior knowledge and infernce skills to infer what is being said and thought in the picture stimulus. Each task card includes a picture stimulus, with a speech bubble and a thought bubble from characters in the picture. Students identify what they see, what is being said and thought, and the clues that tell them that. Students love the picture stimulus and are quite challenged by the clues eg; body language. I have had great success with my students completing these inference task cards. The cards can be used as a modelled lesson, independent activity or as guided reading in literacy rotations.
