The Poo Beetle reading activty certainly gets the students interest. This reading activty includes a teacher guided questioning card that facillitates a variety od reading strategies to illicit knowledge and understand for your students. The activity is about the introduction of a foreign 'dung beetle' into Australia to help with the methane gas problem caused by the introduction of large grazing mamals. Students are given the opportunity to evaluate (reading strategy) why the introduction of this animal has helped Australia. Great inference, synthesising and evaluation questioning for students. My students loved this reading activity and it provided great debate around the classroom. It is a great guided reading activity!
