Why are camels called ships of the desert? Is a reading activity that helps students develop summarising skills. The reading task is about how camels have adapted to life in the desert and how their adaptions further their survival in such a harsh environment. The reading activty has a teacher guided strategy questioning card, which helps facilitate student understanding and knowledge using a variety of strategies. The reading activity also includes a note taking summarising card. Students may take notes, then write their own report about why camels are called ships of the desert.
