The Ivory Trade reading activity includes a teacher strategy card to facilitate students knowledge and understanding of the Ivory Trade and illicit student responses to questioning. The strategy teacher card provides questions to ask students under a varity of strategy headings. It really is amazing how little students know about the ivory trade and where ivory comes from. My students loved this reading activity and it provided much discussion about the deplorable trade. The reading activity also incudes an organiser for students to write their opinions as they read, and then write their evaluation at the end of reading. The product also includes a 'connect your knowledge web.' Students connect their understanding, by drawing lines to each word identifying how they are connected.
