This is a Powerpoint learning task which uses three visual models to help consolidate understanding of fractions. Students use area, linear and set models to create equivalent fractions as well as halve and double fractions. I have used this with year 5/6 students and found it very useful in giving students a visual model to relate to different representations of fractions. This helped them solve problems as they could select the model that would best suit the application of the fraction. Using hands on materials was a great help for students who often shudder when they hear the word..."Fractions". It could be presented as a whole class activity on Interactive whiteboard to work through together or students could downloaded onto devices and work through individualy or in pairs. I would appreciate any feedback.
