In this task, students work to compare the cost of various liquids they find to the cost of petrol.
It is focused on practising applying decimals by multiplying and comparing decimals. It also encourages students to think critically about how they will work through the task. There is also a graphing element to the task.
It is aimed at grade 5/6 students but could also challenge Grade 7.
It can be used as a partner task.
The task includes reflection called BDA which asks students to think of questions Before, During and After the task to help keep them on track.
When presented as an open task it allows time to workshop with students who may need particular practise in different skills. Opportunities for reflection also help students to see what is and isn't working in their plan.
I would appreciate any feedback.
