THIS POWERPOINT HAS TASKS TO MONITOR HOW STUDENTS ARE GOING WITH THEIR UNDERSTANDING OF CONCEPTS RELATING TO NAMING AND RENAMING DECIMALS, PLACE VALUE RELATING TO DECIMALS AND DECIMALS IN THE WORLD. INCLUDED ARE "WHO IS CORRECT" ASSESSMENT WHERE STUDENTS EXPLAIN WHETHER THEY AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH STATEMENTS AND USE THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF DECIMALS TO SUPPORT THEIR POINT OF VIEW. ALSO INCLUDED ARE SEVERAL IMAGES OF EVERYDAY SITUATIONS THAT ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO IDENTFY HOW DECIMALS ARE RELEVANT TO THE SITUATION. THE POWERPOINT COULD BE USED AS A RESPONSE TASK FOR STUDENTS TO USE INDIVIDUALLY OF IN PAIRS OR IT CAN BE USED AS A WHOLE CLASS ACTIVITY ALLOWING TIME FOR DISCUSSIONS. IT COULD BE SPLIT OVER SEVERAL LESSONS. ALSO INCLUDED IS A REFLECTION ACTIVITY AND CREATIVE THINKING TASK. THIS TASK WOULD SUIT EXTENSION FOR YEAR 4 BUT AIMED AT 5/6. FEEDBACK GREATLY APPRECIATED.
