This task is created to offer students a choice in their response to the text they are reading. The text could be a whole class text or individually selected by students.
Students will select 4 of the 6 tasks which focus on

- Genre
- Character
- Turning Point
- Powerful Words
- Making Connections to Characters
Each task is explained clearly with criteria set out to help students monitor their progress. The clear focus also helps you keep track of students' understanding.
An example of a task
GENRE
Genre is a way of classing the type of book you are reading.
Task - Decide what genre your book is. Find three other books of the same genre and add their titles and authors to the circle. The heading for this task is the genre of your book e.g. Fantasy
This task is aimed at 5/6 but could be adapted for extension in lower grades or even completed as a whole class activity.
