The program provides learning experiences and assessment opportunities for students who have difficulties to learn and recall multiplication facts. Students are encouraged to choose suitable computation strategies to arrive at the correct answers. The workbook offers ample opportunities for students to learn and recall multiples of 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. The activities are based on a number of strategies to learn and recall the multiplication facts, such as repeated addition, skip counting, doubles, near doubles, turnarounds, groups of and rows of.
The activities focus on combinations of multiplications, additions and subtraction. There are 24 questions (problems) on each page to make this workbook compatible with the LUK System. The advantage of the LUK System is that the students can work independently, check their answers and correct their mistakes. When using LUK the students do not need to write the answers, they can place the numbered tiles in the correct spaces matching the answer with the appropriate numbers. The mental computation, with no need to write the answers, enables faster recall of number facts, as the student is not distracted by writing the numbers. The use of mental computation keeps the student on track and encourages fluency. The workbook is compatible with the LUK system, however it may be used on its own.
