Visual Perceptual Skills Addressed:
Spatial Relationships
Spatial Relationships perception is the ability to interpret the position of two or more visual stimuli in relation to oneself and/or in relation to each other.
In the “Grid Object Positions” worksheets, the student must analyze how the blocks are positioned in relation to each other. These worksheets will build a spatial understanding of location words (words that analyze position), such as, “on top of”, “below”, “to the left” and “to the right”.
Figure Ground
Figure Ground perception is the ability to screen out any irrelevant visual material when presented with a lot of visual information at one time (to locate the important stimulus without getting confused by the background or surrounding images). This skill is key for good attention and concentration.
To complete the “Grid Object Positions” worksheets successfully, the student must find the object that is highlighted in the question in amongst all the other objects (attend to that particular object while filtering out the visual distraction of the surrounding objects).
