Children learn through observing the nuances of everything they see in the world around them. Many objects in our environments appear similar at first glance. By comparing and contrasting the images in these worksheets, the student is trained to become more adept at quickly noticing small differences in things around them. In the “Simple Spot the Difference” worksheets, the student must identify two differences between the pictures.

Visual Discrimination
Visual Discrimination is the ability to identify differences and similarities between two or more visual stimuli by analyzing their individual characteristics and distinctive features.
In the “Simple Spot the Difference” worksheets, the student must compare the features of each of the two pictures in order to identify what is missing/different.
Figure Ground
Figure Ground perception is the ability to screen out any irrelevant visual material when presented with a lot of visual information at one time (to locate the important stimulus without getting confused by the background or surrounding images). This skill is key for good attention and concentration.
To complete the “Simple Spot the Difference” worksheets successfully, the student must bounce between the two pictures to compare all the details, attending to each detail in turn.
Visual Motor Integration
Visual Motor Integration relates to the coordination of visual perceptual skills with body movement (the use of visual information to guide a motor task). For fine motor tasks, the eyes inform the arm and hand muscles where to go like "follow the leader”, so that motor output matches visual input.
In the “Simple Spot the Difference” worksheets, the student's eyes must guide their hand in order to fill in the missing lines/parts in a fluid and controlled manner.
