In the “Hidden Fish” worksheets, the student must find the fish in the tank that is the same as the fish that is hidden behind the puzzle pieces.

Visual Closure
Visual Closure is the ability to recognize any given visual stimulus from an incomplete presentation (part of the stimulus is missing). The ability to identify what we are seeing without having to analyze every detail enables us to process information in our environment quickly.
In the “Hidden Fish” worksheets, the student must mentally fill in the parts of the fish that are concealed by the puzzle pieces, in order to identify the complete fish.
Figure Ground
Figure Ground perception is the ability to screen out any irrelevant visual material when presented with a lot of visual information at one time (to locate the important stimulus without getting confused by the background or surrounding images). This skill is key for good attention and concentration.
To successfully search for the fish that is the same as the example in the “Hidden Fish” worksheets, the student must attend to one fish at a time within the busy field of the surrounding fish and the background of the tank.
Visual Discrimination
Visual Discrimination is the ability to identify differences and similarities between shapes, symbols, objects or patterns, by analyzing their individual characteristics and distinctive features.
In the “Hidden Fish” worksheets, the student must compare the features of any similar looking fish, in order to distinguish between them.
